Excelsior Springs avoided getting swept in its four varsity softball games last week. The Tigers went 1-3, falling Sept. 12 to Fort Osage, defeating St. Teresa’s Academy Sept. 14, then dropping two games Sept. 16 in a tournament at Lawson. The Tigers took a 3-0 firstinning lead in their 17-5 loss to Fort Osage at Miracle Field. The Independencebased visitors, however, made that lead disappear by exploding for a 13-run third. Excelsior Springs tallied six hits during the defeat, including sophomore Kinley Rogers’ first home run this season. Excelsior Springs cranked out 13 hits en route to its 11-7 road win over St. Teresa’s, a Kansas City-based private school. The Tigers scored seven runs in the second, two in the fourth and two more in the sixth. Senior catcher Chloe Carlyle hit her first home run this season to help the Tigers. Sophomores Kayden Rogers, Willa Schreier, Josie Casler and Keira Romazon each had two hits. Romazon also got the pitching win. In tossing a complete…
