ES softballers pile up hits, runs in first week
Excelsior Springs got its offense going to start the varsity softball season.
Last week, the Tigers hammered out 27 hits and scored 20 runs in two games – a 15-5 win over William Chrisman Aug. 29 at Miracle Field and a 6-5 Aug. 30 road loss in eight innings to Truman.
Excelsior Springs had four players with multiple hits in the win over Chrisman. Sophomore Kinley Rogers led the Tigers by going 4-for-4 with five RBIs. Her sister, sophomore Kayden Rogers, went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Sophomore Willa Schreier contributed two hits, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Sophomore Gabby Scrivener also pinged out two hits, scored three runs and had an RBI.
Bailey Carder picked up the pitching win. In three innings, the senior yielded five runs, including two earned runs; and four hits.
The girls hammered out 10 hits in their one-run, extra-inning loss to Truman. Kinley Rogers and sophomore Josie Casler helped lead Excelsior Springs offensively. Their contributions included…
