ES softballers on a roll as postseason nears
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are on a roll in varsity softball as the end of the regular season approaches.
Entering Tuesday’s non-conference meeting at Platte County, Excelsior Springs had won four straight, including three games last week. The streak started Oct. 1 with a 15-2 drubbing of visiting Clinton in MRVC West play.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with a run on two hits. But the Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom of the second. Junior Ariana Reynolds led off with a single to center field and moved to second on a single by sophomore Daelyn Williams. Junior Mallory Millsap walked to load the bases. Senior Emilie Barrera drove in Reynolds and Williams with a one-out single to center.
The Tigers added a run in the third on a one-out solo home run by senior Mayce Barber, then exploded for a 12-run fourth. The scoring barrage started when freshman Bailey Carder reached on an error and advanced to third on a single by junior Avory Moore…
