Excelsior Springs keeps winning in varsity volleyball. The Tigers had won 11 of their last 14 matches entering Thursday’s road meeting with Grain Valley. That tear included a 2-1 week last week, when they downed Oak Park Sept. 18 at Oak Park, fell 3-1 Sept. 19 at North Kansas City and defeated Grandview 3-0 Sept. 21 at Excelsior Springs. Excelsior Springs opened against Oak Park with a 25-17 victory, then took the second set 25-19. The Oakies edged the Tigers 29-27 in a seesaw third set. Excelsior Springs finished it a 25-14 win. The Tigers fell 25-18 to open their match with Northtown. They then took the second set 25-20 and dropped the next two sets, 25-14, 25-18. Excelsior Springs cruised past Grandview, taking the sets 25-18, 25-14, 25-16.
