ES XC runners get ready for district competition

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Over the past two weeks, the Excelsior Springs cross country programs have prepped for the postseason. And the postseason is almost here. The Tigers’ preparation has included participating in the Warrensburg Invitational and the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division meet. On Oct. 15, they traveled to Warrensburg to take on the 3.1-mile course, along with 18 other schools at the invitational. The top Tiger on the boys side was junior Tyler Rumore, who finished 23rd in a personal-record time of 17 minutes, 57.5 seconds – 2:01.3 behind the individual winner, Knob Noster’s Samuel Wilhelm. Sophomore Gavin Wilmes was the second Tiger to finish, placing 59th in 19:23.4. Sophomore Damien McDade finished 107th in 21:29.3 for the Tigers, who did not run a complete team.
