ESHS grad heads to Mo Valley

Excelsior Springs is sending another student-athlete to college.Joseph James, who graduated this spring from high school, recently signed a letter of intent to study at and run track for Missouri Valley College, a four-year, Marshall-based private college with an enrollment of just more than 1,500 students. He chose Missouri Valley over Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.“The coaching staff made me feel very comfortable, and the school is close to home and offered me a generous scholarship program,” James said.James joins the Vikings, who are members of the NAIA and compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, after a state-qualifying season in the boys 110-meter high hurdles. He placed 12th at the Class 4 state meet in Jefferson City after winning the event at districts and again at sectionals.At Missouri Valley, James will continue running the hurdles, he said.
