ESHS grad looks to ‘get some reps’ against Chiefs at Arrowhead
In two weeks and change, an Excelsior Springs High School alumnus will have the privilege of playing pro football at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
But he might hear some “boos” because of his uniform.
As The Standard reported in August, 2016 graduate Sam Webb made the Las Vegas Raiders’ 53-man regularseason roster. Webb and his teammates are scheduled to face the Kansas City Chiefs at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 10 at Arrowhead. ESPN will televise the AFC West clash between the longtime rivals live as part of its “Monday Night Football” programming.
“I had a bunch of people tell me that they’re going to come to that game,” Webb said Sept. 8 by phone. “I’ll probably see them there. Hopefully, I’ll be active that game and I’ll be able to get some reps.”
Still, even with plenty of familiar faces in the stands, Webb isn’t focusing much on the Chiefs yet because of the nature of his job, he suggested.
