ESHS quarterback named semifinalist for Frank Fontana Award

November 24, 2017 – Excelsior Springs High School senior and Tigers quarterback Peyton Soria has been nominated for this year’s Frank Fontana award.

Soria is one of the top 10 semifinalists for the award, which is one of five within the 2017 Thomas A. Simone Football awards. These awards honor the best high school football players within the Kansas City area.

The semifinalists were chosen by the Simone media committee and announced on Tuesday, Nov. 14 by PrepsKC.

Soria has impressive statistics, with 700 yards passing, 1,200 yards rushing, and 25 touchdowns.

Finalists will be selected by the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association, as well as select members of the media, by Nov. 28. Winners will be announced Dec. 5, at the high school of the winning award recipient.
