ESHS volleyball, softball programs do summer prep work for fall games

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Volleyball and softball programs have experienced an action-packed June in Excelsior Springs. Varsity volleyball coach Kathryn Beile and varsity softball coach Megan Rawie have had their respective teams prepping for the fall season. Beile’s group of nearly 30 girls has participated in a summer conditioning program and in open gym sessions twice a week. Her group also participated in the three-week Park Hill South junior varsity and varsity summer league. “We had girls stepping up and getting out of their comfort zone and doing things they aren’t used to doing,” Beile said. “The league put us up against bigger schools we don’t usually see, so it was great to see our girls play competitive volleyball against them.” Since April, Rawie has had her team on the softball field twice a week.
