Excelsior Springs football: A look back
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The coronavirus pandemic kept Excelsior Springs’ varsity football season up in the air from week to week.
The Tigers, 3-5, lost two games this season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the season opened as scheduled, with the Tigers traveling to Savannah and coming away with a 33- 21 win over the Savages.
Soon after that, though, the pandemic affected the program, as a Savannah player tested positive for COVID-19, forcing several Tigers to quarantine for two weeks. As a result, the Week 2 game scheduled against Warrensburg at Warrensburg was canceled.
For Week 3, the Tigers hosted Moberly in non-conference play. The Spartans took advantage of many Tigers having to miss two weeks of practice because of quarantining, thumping the Tigers 42-7.
