Excelsior Springs girls hoopsters look to keep winning

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers seek to continue moving in the right direction – that is, the winning direction – this varsity girls basketball season. Under head coach J.D. Biermann, the Tigers ended 2019-20 8-17 and reached the Class 4 District 15 Tournament semifinals after winning a combined six games the previous five seasons. They also won two of their last three ballgames. In addition, the Tigers went 4-6 in the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division. Odessa and Warrensburg split the MRVC West championship, with both teams going 8-2 in divisional play, followed by Oak Grove and Excelsior Springs, with Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill each going 3-7 in MRVC West play. The Tigers also are coming off a season in which they averaged 40.7 points per game while allowing 48.3 points per game. Keying returning players include junior Rylie Stottlemyre, an MRVC West honorable mention selection last season. Stottlemyre averaged nearly seven points, two rebounds and two steals…
