On Jan. 11, the Excelsior Springs girls got to test themselves. That night, the Tigers faced Kearney – the top-ranked team in the state in Class 1. They handled the test well enough to win three on-the-mat matches in their 54-27 road loss. Jaylenn Hudlemeyer, Lauren Park and sophomore Adrien Crawley got the wins for Excelsior Springs. Hudlemeyer, a senior, won a 5-2 decision over Ella Herndon at 125 pounds to improve to 16-10 this season. Park, a junior, pinned Jaycee Preece at 140 to improve to 11-11.
