Girls hoopsters hold banquet to cap season

DUSTIN DANNER Sports Reporter Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball coach JD Biermann and his Tigers have formally capped their season. They did so April 1 with a team banquet, held in the high school commons area. The event capped a season in which three players received all-district honors: senior Baylee O’Dell, and sophomores Bella Loeffert and Kinley Rogers. O’Dell also was named Class 4 District 15 co-Player of the Year. In addition, Rogers was a second-team all-Blue Division selection, and O’Dell and Rogers were named to the KMZU Dream Team. The honors followed a 9-15 season and a second-place finish in the District 15 Tournament. The girls averaged 38.2 points per game and allowed 44 per game. Their season high was 63 points, scored in February at home in a 37-point win over Ruskin, a Kansas City-based school. The Tigers scored 60 points or more twice.
