Lilly Goetz couldn’t be defeated at the Tussle for the Tiara.Representing Excelsior Springs High School, Goetz went 4-0 at the Dec. 7 girls wrestling tournament at North Kansas City High School to win the 125-pound division title. Her championship run helped the Tigers place fifth in the team standings with 119 points.Goetz, a first-year high schooler, won three matches by pin. She opened by pinning Clinton’s McKenna Allen in 37 seconds. She then pinned Lebanon’s Kaylee Herd in the quarterfinals in the third period.Goetz’s final pin came during the second period of her semifinal match with Clinton’s Cali Scott. She clinched her tournament title with a 14-10 decision over Park Hill South’s Temperance Lowe.Goetz was among three top-four finishers for Excelsior Springs.
