The first tournament of the varsity boys wrestling season awaits Excelsior Springs coach Cody Beck and his Tigers.Excelsior Springs is scheduled to grapple this weekend at the Lee’s Summit Holiday Tournament. High schools from three states are expected to compete.The tournament follows a Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division dual with Winnetonka Dec. 10 in Kansas City, and Dec. 11 tussles with Cameron and Pleasant Hill at Cameron. Excelsior Springs fell to Winnetonka 41-29. The Tigers went 1-1 at Cameron, defeating Pleasant Hill 42-35 and losing 57-22 to the hosts.Excelsior Springs notched six on-themat victories against Winnetonka, starting with first-year high schooler Logan Bates’ first-period pin at 113 pounds.
