Happy, Crawley headed to state

Annalese Happy and Adrien Crawley have more matches to wrestle this season for Excelsior Springs. Happy, a first-year high schooler; and Crawley, a sophomore, will represent the Tigers at Class 1 state competition, scheduled for Feb. 21-22 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. The two secured their tournament spots by placing fourth in their respective weight classes at the Class 1 District 4 Tournament, held Feb. 9-10 at Kearney. Per Missouri State High School Activities Association regulations, the top four finishers in each weight class qualified for state. Happy qualified in the 110-pound division. After receiving a first-round bye, she lost in the second round on a tiebreaker, then put together four straight wins to reach the third-place match, where she lost by a secondperiod pin. All of Happy’s win were by pin, including a thirdperiod pin in her bubble match with Cameron’s Skye Mallen, which ensured she would finish no lower than fourth.
