Harbison sees rapid improvement in ’Cats during summer training

Orrick varsity boys basketball coach Chris Harbison is seeing progress in his Bearcats’ basketball chops during their afternoon skill sessions in the Orrick High School gym. “We’re improving pretty quickly,” Harbison said after the program’s June 13 session. “A lot of people haven’t touched a ball, obviously, since (the) season ended, so a lot of it is getting a feel for things again – … small, simple stuff, getting back to basics, passing lanes, … having good pivot feet, small things like that.” The turnouts for the June skill sessions have varied, according to Harbison, who’s entering his second season at Orrick. “There’s a group of them that work together, so I’m getting either around 12 or around six of them,” he said. “Just depends on the workouts.” Logan Smith and Malachi Fletcher are among those who’ve attended the skill sessions, held Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and ...
