January 26, 2018 — Excelsior Springs Lady Tigers came out strong Friday, Jan. 19, against Pleasant Hill.

The stadium was roaring and chanting every play while the Tigers outscored the Lady Chicks 14-10 in the first quarter.

The Lady Chicks didn’t let the Lady Tigers slip away before the half. The Lady Chicks went on a 5-0 run that ended with the foul against Senior Josie Rimmer on a driving lay-up. Rimmer went 1 for 2 at the free throw line.

Pleasant Hill’s 6-0 run allowed them to come back within one before halftime. Rimmer had five points and Kiya Nunes had 10 points for the Tigers leading into the half.

Out of the half, the Lady Tigers struggled defensively and continually fouled at important moments, allowing Pleasant Hill to score 19 points in the third quarter.

The Tigers scored nine points which were converted by Rimmer who only scored four. Aurie Christiansen scored her first points and had a total of six points, and Morgan Schindler scored her first and only two points in the quarter.

It was a close one for the Lady Tigers. Christiansen had 2.5 seconds to shoot a highly contested hook shot to tie the game, but the ball rolled out while the final buzzer sounded.

Lady Tigers outscored Pleasant Hill 25-21 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to regain the lead, resulting in a close and heartbreaking 60-62 Lady Tiger loss.
