In June, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame will induct another representative of Excelsior Springs High School. Shaun Marcum, a 2000 Excelsior Springs graduate, will be part of this year’s class. He’ll officially enter the Hall of Fame during the induction ceremony, scheduled for June 7 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. Marcum will be inducted for his achievements in baseball.After graduating from Excelsior Springs, where he was a quarterback in football, a state champion wrestler and an all-state baseball player, he played baseball for one season at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He then transferred to Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University). In his junior season, he was a first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection at shortstop. Marcum, who also served as the closing pitcher, helped the Bears win the regular-season conference title and reach the 2003 College World Series that season. ...
