Tigers varsity football coach Jake Danneman would probably like to see his offense execute the way it opened Excelsior Springs’ Aug. 21 home preseason jamboree on every play.

For their first play, the Tigers tagged East Buchanan with a 40-yard touchdown. Sophomore Nick Mubanga provided the scoring run, zipping up the middle seemingly untouched.

“When we go back and watch it on film, I’ll be there’s a hat on a hat on a hat – everybody’s blocked,” Danneman said.

Indeed, all of East Buchanan’s defenders were blocked, according to Mubanga.

“I was just free – off to the races,” he said. Mubanga’s scoring run was among three touchdowns Excelsior Springs scored on East Buchanan, a Gowerbased school. The Tigers also got a 1-yard TD run from Mubanga and a 10-yard TD run from Brayden Applegate.
