Like many prep athletes, Excelsior Springs High School student Abby Rash plays club sports not only to hone her skills, but also because of the opportunities to travel. In Rash’s case, the traveling opportunities result from playing for area-based soccer program Amigos FC. She plays on Amigos’ 19-and-under boys team. The club’s schedule includes tournaments around the Midwest. Rash, who began playing for Amigos FC several years ago at the 12-and-under level, has used her experience in club soccer to help her contribute to Excelsior Springs’ varsity girls soccer program. She was a starter, first-team all-district and first-team all-conference pick her first two seasons. As a sophomore, she was the Tigers’ No. 2 scorer. Other honors include the Newcomer of the Year award her freshman season.
