Rogers, Houck and Kincaid win Blue Division meet titles
Three Excelsior Springs varsity athletes left the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division track and field meet as champions.
Kinley Rogers led the Tigers by winning three events at the May 1 competition at Kearney High School. The sophomore set a school record with her champion girls javelin throw of 37.36 meters. She also won the shot put and discus with throws of 10.58 and 31.71, respectively.
Sophomore Kate Houck and junior Kolin Kincaid won an event apiece. Houck cleared 1.5 for the girls high jump title. Kincaid leaped 6.71 for the boys long jump title.
Rogers, Houck and Kincaid were among 11 Tigers who placed in the top six individually and received allconference honors. Others included senior Mason Wartner, who took second in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 3.42 seconds and fourth in the 1,600 in 4:49.62.
