Rogers wins two events at Kearney

Excelsior Springs’ throwers displayed their skills in two meets last week. First, they competed in the Kearney Throwers Meet April 8. Then, they were joined by their running and jumping teammates April 11 for the Highway 92 Meet at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers produced six top-eight performances at Kearney, including two firsts by Kinley Rogers, who won the girls javelin and girls shot put. In other girls results, Josie Casler, took third in the javelin and Rogers finished sixth in the discus. On the boys side, Kolt Willis took second in the discus and Easton Ryan placed eighth in the javelin. The Tigers swept the team championships at Excelsior Springs. The girls won with 286 points and the boys won with 284.5 points. Excelsior Springs won 10 girls events and nine boys events. The girls champions included Lillah Shue and Pyper Layton, who each won two events. Shue won the 800-meter run and the 3,200. Layton won the high jump and the triple jump.
