KANSAS CITY – The coronavirus has placed a delay on opening day for the Kansas City Royals and all of the 29 other Major League Baseball teams.
The virus also is blamed for the suspension of spring training games.
March 29 would have marked the first day of the regular season, but no longer. The CDC recommended putting off opening day due to COVID-19 concerns.
In a statement to baseball fans, Major League baseball announced an intent to “keep fans updated on decisions regarding plans for the 2020 schedule in the days and weeks ahead,” adding the baseball clubs remain committed to playing “as many games as possible” once the season begins.
