Schmidt, Biermann finish season at state

Jacob Schmidt and Landon Biermann would probably agree that conditions were hardly ideal when they represented Excelsior Springs at the Class 3 state boys golf tournament. Like their fellow golfers, the two Tigers had to fight through rainy downpours and wind at the twoday tournament, held recently at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. Because of the elements, they worked through a soft, wet course. Schmidt, who just completed his junior year of high school, negotiated the course well enough to finish in a five-way tie for 54th. He shot an opening round of 88 and shot an 88 again the second day for a 176 (+32). Biermann, who just completed his sophomore year, finished in a four-way tie for 69th by shooting back-toback 92’s for a 184 (+40). “I am really proud of these guys for the way they played on this tough course through the rainy conditions,” Excelsior Springs coach David Stalder said.
