The quartet of seniors on Excelsior Springs’ varsity boys golf team left their home course as winners. On April 23, the Tigers finished their home schedule with a 12-stroke dual victory over Cameron. Afterward, the team honored seniors Elijah Ishmael, Cade Leonhard, Zeb McBee and Jacob Schmidt. Schmidt led the Tigers to victory by shooting a 40 for his nine-hole round. Junior Landon Biermann shot a 43. Ishmael shot a 54. McBee’s 56 completed Excelsior Springs’ team score, 193. The win preceded the team’s April 24 participation in the Highway 92 Showdown with Smithville, Kearney and Platte County at Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville. Again, Schmidt led the Tigers, this time shooting a 38 for his nine-hole round to finish as the overall runner-up. Other contributors to Excelsior Springs’ third-place team finish included Biermann with a 41 and junior Tayvion Kennedy with a 42.
