Another Excelsior Springs varsity girls soccer season is done. The season ended in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament, held recently in Cameron. The girls’ finale was an 8-0 loss to eventual tournament champion St. Pius X of Kansas City. “We knew coming into this game that St. Pius was going to be tough,” coach Zac Ganzer said. “They are a team loaded with talent and (I) expect to see them make a deep run in the (state) playoffs.” The fifth-seeded Tigers’ loss in the district semifinals followed a 1-0 tournament-opening win over Chillicothe. Bailey Carder, who just finished her junior year, scored the game-winner. Ava Morton provided the assist pass. Brooklyn Sharp recorded the shutout in goal.
