The Classified Employee of the Month and the Excelsior Springs High School Boys Soccer team were recognized during the December Excelsior Springs Board of Education meeting.

Amber Mynatt, secretary at Cornerstone Elementary School, was recognized as the Classified Employee of the Month. She was nominated by Cornerstone Elementary Principal Brian Sloan.

“Amber is always so patient and kind to kids, families, and staff when dealing with daily pressures,” Communications Director Dr. Mark Bullimore told the board.

“Cornerstone has had numerous parents and families share what a great person and asset to the building she is by always putting kids first,” he said. Bullimore also spread the message that Mynatt was “very thankful and appreciative” of the recognition.

The boys’ soccer team was also recognized after finishing the season by taking third at the Missouri State High School competition.

Head Coach Zac Ganzer told the school board the team’s daily goal of “getting one percent better” helped them get to the state competition.

Ganzer also commented on the characteristics of the team.

“This group is just a fantastic group of individuals. There are countless times where teachers and community members will come by and share a quick story about the quality of individuals that these guys are. I say that on the field they are very high character kids that work really hard and do everything they can to put us in a good situation, but off the field – maybe even more so,” he commended.
