Excelsior Springs has a string of third- and fourthplace finishes at state competition in baseball.Now, the high school has a first-place finish. With a 2-0 victory over Orchard Farm June 4 at the Ozark Mountain Sports Complex, the Tigers won the Class 4 state title. As was pointed out during the championship game livestream, Excelsior Springs has won 10 state titles across all team sports. The Tigers have two state titles in boys track – the 1949 Class B title and the 1999 Class 3A championship. The total also includes two wrestling titles, posted in back-to-back seasons during the 1970s in Class A; and two 11-man football championships, both in Class 4A.
