Tigers drop first three MRVC West varsity volleyball matches

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are still looking to win their first Missouri River Valley Conference West Division varsity volleyball match this season. Excelsior Springs opened MRVC West play by falling to Harrisonville and Warrensburg in straight sets. The Tigers kept each set close Sept. 24 at Harrisonville but dropped the best-of-five match 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21. Junior Kyli Crowley led Excelsior Springs with 10 kills, followed by six each from senior Natalie Frese and junior Rylie Stottlemyre. Frese also contributed 19 assists. Audrey O’Dell produced three service aces. Frese added two. Defensively, senior Madison Krier’s 26 digs led the Tigers, followed by Crowley’s 16 and Frese’s 10. A Sept. 29 best-of-five match at Warrensburg also was just out of reach of Excelsior Springs, with Warrensburg winning 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21. Frese led the local girls in assists again with 16. Crowley and Stottlemyre were the beneficiaries of eight of those assists. Krier led the club…
