Excelsior Springs looks to send some boys wrestlers to state competition again. The Tigers will pursue that goal this weekend, when they host the Class 2 District 4 Tournament. The top four finishers in each weight class at the Friday-Saturday tournament will qualify for the Class 2 state tournament, scheduled for Feb. 21-22 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. The Tigers are coming off a 36-33 Feb. 7 comeback dual victory over Richmond as they enter the postseason. Wyett Shipman’s victory in the final match secured the road win. Richmond took a 6-0 lead by winning the 113-pound match by forfeit. Cooper Collins tied it with a pin at 120. The Spartans reclaimed the lead with a win at 126. Ryne Marcum knotted it at 12 with a pin at 132. Excelsior Springs went up 18-12 with Carson VanDoremalen’s win at 144. Gabe Baker answered for Richmond at 150 by pinning Desi Perez.
