Tigers sit above .500 in varsity boys soccer
Excelsior Springs is back above .500 again in varsity boys soccer.
With Monday’s home win over St. Joseph Central, the Tigers were 7-5 entering Wednesday’s road meeting with North Kansas City and on a three-game winning streak. That streak included a 10-0 drubbing of Grandview Oct. 2 at Grandview and a 6-3 win over Truman Oct. 4 in Independence.
Four Tigers handled the scoring against Grandview. Senior Mason Wartner started the scoring with his goal in the opening minute. Junior Austin Collins made it 2-0 by finishing a pass from Wartner in the second minute. Junior Jake Zapata joined in with a breakaway goal in the fourth minute.
Junior Kolin Kincaid scored the first of his four goals by finishing a pass from Collins in the 10th minute. Wartner followed that with the second goal of his hat trick, this one coming in the 11th minute on a penalty kick.
Kincaid’s second goal resulted from an assist by Wartner in the 13th minute. Zapata then assisted Kincaid in the 18th minute…
