Excelsior Springs is no longer undefeated this season in varsity boys soccer.The Tigers experienced their first loss Sept. 14 in their own tournament, falling 1-0 in the title game to The Barstow School, a Kansas City-based private school.“We played a good Barstow group in a playoffstyle game, and I felt really good about how we played,” coach Zac Ganzer commented. “We just came up on the short end of things.”The loss followed two tournament wins. Excelsior Springs blew away Odessa 8-0 Sept. 10 and edged Maryville 2-1 Sept. 12.Neither Excelsior Springs nor Maryville could score the first half. The Spoofhounds, who finished third last season in the Class 1 state tournament, struck first.
