Tigers take to track in Kearney triangular

KEARNEY – Excelsior Springs’ track and field season has begun. The Tigers opened March 26 at Kearney with a triangular that also included Oak Park. Juniors Jacey Brewer, Macey Chaney and Ava Ishmael, and freshman Lindsay Parkin opened by placing third in the girls 3,200-meter relay with their time of 12 minutes, 11 seconds. The boys team of junior Tyler Rumore, freshman Mason Wartner, and sophomores Gavin Wilmes and Damien McDade finished third in 9:54. In the boys 110 high hurdles, Wilmes finished fourth in 17.91 seconds and sophomore Andrew DeOrnellis took seventh in 19.75. Sophomore Sydney Jarvis was the top Tiger in the girls 100-meter dash with her time of 13.57, with freshman Alani Price taking ninth in 13.78. Junior Andrew Armstrong finished second in the boys 100 in 11.3, with junior Donovan Paige taking fourth in 11.34 and senior Daiton Love placing seventh at 11.53.
