Tigers win 17 total events at Chillicothe track meet

Excelsior Springs chalked up the victories on March 28. That day, the Tigers competed in the Chillicothe Early Season Invite, along with St. Joseph Lafayette and the host school. They won 17 events – nine on the boys side, eight on the girls side. Junior Dawson Claypole was among three individual boys winners in the running events, taking the 200-meter dash in 24.04 seconds. Senior Mason Wartner won the 1,600 in 4:55.2 and sophomore Race Meador won the 110 high hurdles in 20.84. The Excelsior Springs boys also won two relays – the 3,200 and the 1,600. In addition, the boys won four field events. Marquez McCant cleared 1.7 meters to take the high jump, Kolin Kincaid leaped 6.38 to win the long jump, Deagan Barber cleared 2.9 to claim the pole vault and Easton Ryan won the javelin by throwing 39.95.
