Two rough quarters hurt the Tigers in their 59-28 Jan. 17 home loss to Oak Park.
The teams traded early baskets before Oak Park built a lead midway through the first quarter. The Oakies led 15-10 at quarter’s end.
Falling victim to turnovers and cold shooting, Excelsior Springs got outscored 22-5 the second quarter and trailed 37-15 at halftime. The cold shooting continued in the third quarter, as the Tigers got outscored 20-5.
Excelsior Springs outscored Oak Park 8-2 the fourth quarter.
Junior Baylee O’Dell led the Tigers with eight points and seven rebounds, followed by junior Alani Price with six points.
Other contributors included first-year high schoolers Josie Casler and Kinley Rogers. Casler scored six points and pulled down three rebounds. Rogers added four points.
