Two runners post seasonal bests at districts

KANSAS CITY – In terms of time, two Excelsior Springs cross country runners could say they ran their best at Class 4 District 4 competition. On the boys side, Braedyn Sejkora ran a seasonal best at the Oct. 28 competition at Staley High School. An Excelsior Springs girl also ran her seasonal best – Madeleine Wenz. Excelsior Springs’ highest girls placer, however, was Kate Houck. The sophomore placed 51st, finishing the 3.1mile course in 25 minutes, 19.49 seconds. In other girls results, sophomore Kirsten Stout finished 55th in 25:41.73. Senior Braylissa Whitworth placed 60th in 26:06.93. Wenz, a first-year high schooler, took 67th with her seasonal-best time, 26:49.83. Senior Chloe Albertson took 71st in 27:07.57. Junior Audrey Ishmael placed 80th in 29:24.74. Sejkora, a senior, paced the Excelsior Springs boys with his seasonal-best time of 20:51.53 – good for 58th overall.
