Two SEC schools will soon slug it out for the national title in NCAA Division I baseball.

The University of Tennessee and Texas A & M University are slated to begin play in the best-of-three Men’s College World Series final Saturday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. Game 2 is slated for Sunday. Game 3, if needed, is scheduled for June 24.

Both schools are seeking their first Men’s College World Series title. Tennessee is making its first appearance in the series final since 1951, when the Volunteers lost to the University of Oklahoma.

Tennessee and Texas A & M were among eight schools that qualified for the Men’s College World Series. Completing the group were the University of Florida, Florida State University, the University of Kentucky, the University of North Carolina, North Carolina State University and the University of Viriginia.

The schools were split into two four-team, double-elimination brackets. Tennessee swept Bracket 1 by rallying to edge Florida State 12-11 June 14, cruising past North Carolina 6-1 Sunday and downing Florida State again Wednesday 7-2.

Like Tennessee, Texas A & M swept its bracket. The Aggies edged Florida 3-2 June 15, handled Kentucky 5-1 Monday and defeated Florida again Wednesday 6-0.
