Wildcats use running game to romp past Tigers, hand ES third loss

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – After their heartbreaking Sept. 18 road loss to Center, the Tigers looked to rebound Sept. 25, when they hosted Harrisonville. That was not the case. The Tigers allowed 421 yards of total offense, including 370 rushing yards, as they fell to the Wildcats 39-13 in Missouri River Valley Conference West Division varsity football action. Junior running back Jace Reynolds accumulated 199 of those yards on 21 carries and found the end zone three times. Senior quarterback River Riley caused the Tigers trouble, too, picking up 107 yards and a rushing touchdown on nine carries. The Wildcats started the scoring with a nine-play, 62-yard, first-quarter drive that was capped by a 1-yard TD run. The two-point conversion failed. Harrisonville struck again in the second quarter with a six-play, 58-yard drive, finished off by a 12-yard TD run. A successful two-point conversion made it 14-0 Wildcats.
