Seniors Justin Wright and Ryne Marcum did not leave their final high school wrestling tournament empty handed.Wright and Marcum each took third at Class 2 state competition, held Feb. 26-27 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. In doing so, they led Excelsior Springs to a seventh-place finish in the team standings.Marcum, making his fourth trip to state, picked up his second state medal by going 5-1 in the 144-pound division. His only loss was to Ste. Genevieve’s Drake Meyer, who would finish as runner-up.Marcum opened with a win by pin, then fell to Meyer by pin. Sent to wrestlebacks, he won his third match by technical fall and his fourth by a 3-0 decision.
