Wright receives all-state nod
Jake Danneman can boast of producing an all-stater in his first season as Excelsior Springs varsity football coach.Recently, the Missouri State High School Football Coaches Association selected Justin Wright as a third team all-state defensive lineman. Wright’s stats included 55 tackles for the season.Wright also received postseason honors from the coaches in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division. The senior made the all-division team as an offensive and defensive lineman.Wright was among three Excelsior Springs players to receive Blue Division honors – all of them seniors.Dawson Claypole made the first team as a linebacker. Carson Gholson was a first-team selection as a punter, averaging 29.4 yards per punt, with a season longest of 52 yards.
