Some young area wrestlers brought home hardware from a recent trip to Springfield.Representing the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club, Avrie Goetz, Nickolas Mubunga, Jazlyn Holsey and Addison Ray each received a medal at the Missouri Youth State Tournament. Sanctioned by Missouri USA Wrestling, the tournament was held March 6-9 at Wilson Logistic Arena.Goetz and Mubunga each finished second. Competing in the 155-pound division for girls 12 and under, Goetz drew a first-round bye and won her second-round match by a secondperiod pin. She then won her semifinal match by a third-period pin and lost her title match by a technical fall.Mubunga, who was the runner-up at 140 for boys 14 and under, also drew an opening bye. He won his secondround match by a last-second 5-4 decision.
