■ HEARTS DISPLAY UNITY ■ BENEFIT AREA CHARITIES ■ ONE AT THE ELMS HOTEL EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city is included in the metrowide Parade of Hearts: A Heartland Celebration. Excelsior Springs Mayor Sharon Powell said she participated in the unveiling of the Excelsior Springs heart, one of 154 hearts, all about 5 feet tall by 5 feet wide, and made by 123 community artists.

Council agrees to treadmills

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Community Center will get six new treadmills to support fitness at the community center. The City Council approved Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams’ request for the machines Feb.

Screenings in Excelsior to aid health

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Life Line Screening will be in the area to screen residents for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions. Screenings, some costing $159, will take place April 5 at Flack Memorial Christian Union Church, 1300 Tracy Ave., Excelsior Springs.

Schools await relief funds

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – School districts in Missouri will lose much-needed funding if the General Assembly does not act quickly, Superintendent Travis Hux warned when the Board of Education convened Feb. 14 at the Support Services Center.
