Local man avoids felony conviction through plea agreement

An Excelsior Springs man who faced a felony weapons charge has been placed on probation after a plea agreement reduced the case to a lesser offense. Myles L. Casey, 28, recently entered a guilty plea before Clay County Circuit Court Judge Karen Krauser to one misdemeanor count of peace disturbance.

Morocco Estates rezoned for denser housing

Plans for Morocco Estates have shifted from duplex lots to denser townhouse-style housing after Excelsior Springs approved a rezoning request for the undeveloped subdivision. Excelsior Springs City Council members approved the rezoning at a recent meeting, changing the 16-lot subdivision from R-2 two-family residential to R-3, a district allowing cluster, townhouse and garden apartment development.

Mosby annexation effort survives challenge

Mosby’s bid to annex disputed land in Clay County remains alive after a judge denied Excelsior Springs’ request to dismiss the case without a trial. The ruling keeps in place a legal dispute between Excelsior Springs and Mosby over competing efforts to annex the same unincorporated property in Clay County.
