In everyday life, people are faced with moments to make a choice. Sometimes those choices can be as simple as what to drink, eat or decide where to go for a good cup of coffee.

After spending quite a bit of time getting to know Ray County residents there are a few things I have learned about Richmond and surrounding towns as a journalist. A lot of people care deeply about where they live, where their children go to school and what is happening with small businesses.

When packing a lunch to take to the office or for your kid to take to school, try this hack to keep your food chilled: Freeze a container of yogurt! You’ll have a yogurt “ice pack” to help keep the rest of your food cold, and your yogurt will stay cold until lunchtime. It’s the right type of ingredient to freeze; a juice container or thermos of water may work the same way, but it’s slow to thaw out. Dairy items (like yogurt) freeze hard but thaw quickly. So by the time you’re ready to eat, it’ll be the perfect creamy consistency.

Today’s world can be cruel to everyone in a plethora of ways. Sometimes it’s hard to see the pressure others are under without getting to know someone.

Everyone at some point in their life has an embarrassing moment. It appears to be a component of our life as human beings. The level of discomfort we feel may differ depending on the situation, but no matter, we all experience that heart dropping moment at least once.

This past week marked Memorial Day across the nation. It marks a day to remember military personnel who died while in service.

Life is always throwing things at us from work emergencies to home life chaos. Some can handle the pressure easier than others. But I can’t sleep until everything that needs tending has been sorted out. Otherwise, it’s tossing and turning until my next move is determined. Is it because I lack self-control?
