ES boys tumble to Lexington before first tourney of season

Excelsior Springs was still seeking its first win this season in varsity boys basketball entering Wednesday night’s meeting with Oak Grove. The Tigers were 0-3 as they prepared to face the Panthers in the Husker Classic, hosted by Lafayette County of Higginsville.

Varsity boys cagers tumble to East

For the first half, Excelsior Springs senior Jake Zapata and his fellow Tigers kept their varsity boys basketball season opener with Kansas City East close. The Bears, however, pulled away the second half, handing the Tigers a 58-37 defeat Nov.

Grapplers win five titles at tourney

Lilly Smith, Haylee Ray, Lilly Goetz, Analese Happy and Bristol Sharp returned to Excelsior Springs from the Lathrop Turkey Break Invitational as champions. Smith won the 235-pound title at the Nov.

ES alums receive medals at UCM tourney

Two Excelsior Springs High School alumni, now members of the University of Central Missouri (UCM) men’s wrestling team, picked up medals at the Kaufman Brand Bayly UCM Open. Damon Ashworth, a 2021 graduate, was the 184-pound elite champion at the Nov.

ES boys hoopsters hopeful for season
