Missouri City woman receives probation in officer assault case

A Missouri City woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the assault of a local police officer following a 2024 pursuit.

Kala R. Seevers, 35, pleaded guilty to two felony charges of third-degree assault on a special victim and resisting arrest by fleeing, creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death. A misdemeanor charge of second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Shane T. Alexander sentenced Seevers to six years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on the assault charge and three years on the resisting arrest charge, to be served consecutively. The execution of both sentences was suspended, and Seevers was placed on supervised probation for five years.
