Caps fly high for Orrick’s class of 2025

The graduating class of Orrick High School stood shoulder to shoulder one final time, united in caps, gowns and community spirit. As the 97th class to receive diplomas from Orrick R-XI, the 36 seniors in the class of 2025 were celebrated not only for their academic accomplishments, but for their kindness, character and quiet leadership.

A healthier, longer life in Excelsior Springs might begin with just one click – or a pen and paper at the Hall of Waters. Through the end of May, Thrive Excelsior is asking residents to complete its 2025 Community Survey, a tool designed not only to collect opinions but to shape the city’s future.

Schwab earns Dean’s List honor

An Excelsior Springs native has earned academic honors from Southern New Hampshire University for the Spring 2025 term. Skylar Schwab was named to the university’s Dean’s List, a recognition reserved for full-time undergraduate students who achieve a grade-point average between 3.500 and 3.699 for the reporting term.

FBI marks 45 years of fighting terrorism

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is marking the 45th anniversary of its first Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Formed in New York in 1980, the first JTTF became a model for law enforcement cooperation across the nation.

Historic properties recognized

The Excelsior Springs Historic Preservation Commission recently held a regular meeting during which awards were presented for the preservation of historic properties in Excelsior Springs. Historic Preservation Commission Chairman Jason Van Till presented owners of three properties with awards recognizing their efforts in the preservation of historic properties in three categories: residential property, commercial property and investment property.

Student mural aims to make lasting impact

A once-intimidating waiting room inside the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office now radiates color and creativity thanks to a new mural designed by Liberty High School art students. Unveiled during a recent special ceremony, the student-led project was celebrated as more than an artistic achievement – it was recognized as a symbol of healing, collaboration and community connection.
