JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, or DHSS, reminds Missourians the battle against COVID-19 continues. In Ray County over the past four weeks, the death toll has risen from 26 to 28 people, the county health department reported.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Clay County and Excelsior Springs’ populations are skewing toward aging, Cathy Boyer-Shesol told city leaders June 21. Boyer-Shesol is project manager for the Mid-America Regional Council’s KC Communities for All Ages initiative.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – First came what Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy called “demolition by neglect” of The Royal Hotel resulting from previous owners. “On May 21, bricks began falling out of the first floor,” Mehaffy stated.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS– Excelsior Springs celebrated America’s 245th birthday with blasts of gunpowder and flashes of light. After dark Sunday, the annual fireworks display began from the upper reaches of Siloam Mountain Park.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Police Department staff and community celebrated the retirement of Chief Clint Reno and Lt. Paul White.

First, let’s say what this is not. It is not a call to defund the police and it is not stating Ray County does not need a secure and safe jail.
