WATER CANCELS WATERFEST

Body
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Community residents, public safety personnel, the WaterFest Committee and festival vendors said canceling WaterFest because of downtown flooding, damage and impending thunderstorms made sense.
AS SEEN from the South Marietta Street Bridge in downtown Excelsior Springs, flood water spills out from the Fishing River and covers the north side of the street, where this Lincoln remains surrounded after the driver is rescued around 6 a.m. June 24 by city emergency personnel. Flood water inundates lots that would have been used for WaterFest parking and traps vehicles already parked there. J.C. VENTIMIGLIA | Staff
